Job Summary
The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Assistant Nurse Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, resolves staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing or a Masters degree in Nursing is required. NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN required. Two years of post-licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in a specialty area) is required. CPR-BLS successfully completed by the time of the appointment. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
Nursing Leadership certification and prior leadership experience are strongly preferred. Experience in an ambulatory setting preferably in a medicine specialty (Dermatology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, or Rheumatology).
Work Days
Monday-Friday, Days.
