What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vocal Instructor position at Uptown Music Collective?
The Uptown Music Collective (a nonprofit school of music in Williamsport, PA) is seeking a Vocal Instructor to teach beginning to advanced private lessons, as well as classes and workshops. The Uptown Music Collective’s curriculum is centered on the performance of modern music while utilizing traditional teaching methods for the development of technique, tone, and music literacy. Candidates for this position should be knowledgeable in these areas. Private lessons are taught to students as young as 8 through adults, but the majority of the students fall into the school’s target market of 8 to 18.
Pay is on a per-lesson basis ($15.75 per half-hour lesson and $31.50 per hour lesson, gross before taxes). The primary hours of instruction are between 3 and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Instructors with music degrees are preferred, but this is not a requirement. Preference will be given to any candidate that can also play/teach piano.
