What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Writer position at Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle?

Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Partnership & Advancement, the Grant Writer will work to identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned programs. This role specifically focuses on state and federal grants that are 500k or more. The grant writer is responsible for identifying grant opportunities and proposal requirements, managing the grant and proposal research, writing grant proposals, and developing effective grant submissions.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in communications, education, public relations, marketing, or a related field preferred
  • 3 years grant writing experience
  • Proven track record in securing new funding opportunities
  • Proven track record in successful grant writing for federal funding
  • Experience with writing grants in social services programs including: entrepreneurship, housing, health, workforce development and/or K-12 education
  • Advanced proficiency is MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong and engaging verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in research, interpreting, analyzing and communicating diverse data
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with corporate and donor communities
  • Strong, results-oriented collaboration, project coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects including setting and changing priorities while ensuring quality and timeliness
  • Willingness and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when necessary consistent with the demands and needs of the executive team, volunteers, community leaders and related special events
  • Direct experience working with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
ULMS Total Compensation

Workers Compensation Coverage - $395.20 - $3,591.33 per year (depending on class code)
