What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Tech (full-time) - Urbandale High School position at Urbandale High School?

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  The purpose of the Behavior Technician position is to provide programatic support to behavior programs, as well as individual support to students.  Successful behavior technicians will have an understanding of basic principals of behavior change, be patient and compassionate with students and staff, and be able to work with a greater level of independence than a typical associate position.  

7.5 hrs/day
Beginning Hourly Rate: $17.81/hr
This position is full-time and is eligible for health insurance benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:
(Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, Education, Certification/Licensure, Experience, Equipment)  

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Experience working with behavior students and implementing behavior plans preferred.

2. CPI Certificated and experience using CPI techniques preferred.

Education:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. First responder to behavior problems.

2. Document when behavioral problems take place.

3. Knowledge of all student BIPs.

4. Train associates on behavior plans.

      a. Assist with BIP questions, behavior concerns from associates.

5. Assist teachers with behavior plans/accomodations as needed

a. Resource to General Education liason to ensure student's plans are being implemented.

6. Conduct integrity checklists.

7. Ensure student plans are being implemented.

8. Classroom/student observations.

a. Check-ins when concerns are raised in regards to BIPs/new behavior.

9. Social Skills plan/instruction assistance

10. Assist in creating student materials related to BIPs (social stories, break cards, etc.).

11. Attend meetings regarding student BIPs.

a. Behavior team meetings (i.e. with school psych, behavior analyst, etc.)

12. Escort students to/from bus.

13. Assist with morning routine.

14. Provide direct associate service when needed.

15. Post-crisis communication as directed by the special education teacher and/or administrator.

16. Enter Chapter 103b documentation.

17. Scan student information into district shared drive.

18 Maintain a reliable attendance record.

19. Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

- None

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.

- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.

- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.

- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.

- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Majority of work is perfroemd in an office or school setting.

- Occasional meetings outside the school day.

- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- At-will employee.

- Letter of Assignment.

- Per Board Policies and administrative guidlines.

- Performance evaluated annually.
