POSITION OVERVIEW

The Trauma-Informed Abusive Partner Intervention Program (APIP) Coordinator is responsible for direct service provision to participants and oversight of all APIP staff. Direct services include therapeutic groups utilizing the a Trauma-Informed modality, advocacy services, referrals and follow-up. Individual must demonstrate sensitivity to issues related to the impact of the criminal justice system, trauma and domestic violence. In addition, the Trauma-Informed APIP Program Coordinator will make all necessary assessments to secure effective therapeutic services to all clients in the program. The Trauma-Informed APIP Program Coordinator will provide a combined clinical and community-coordinated response to domestic violence.

Salary: $58,500 - $63,000

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate weekly therapeutic groups of 12-15 participants. 
  •  Manage all aspects of evaluation, reporting and compliance with participants.  
  • Provide individual counseling to participants as it relates to issues of trauma based on clinical assessment. 
  • Conduct interviews, as assigned by APIP Director, to assess and evaluate participants for risk to self or others. 
  • Engage participants in the orientation and ongoing treatment processes, through group counseling, under clinical supervision of the APIP Director. 
  • Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population. 
  • Supervision of the Case Manager, and the Program Assistant. Both will assist with all program implementation and management protocols. 
  • Function independently and ensure appropriate action is taken in crisis situations per agency procedures. 
  • Regularly assess the safety and well-being of participants.  
  • Develop, with each group of participants, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetable. 
  • Maintain participant and victim files. Ensure that survivors are receiving best practices and holistic support.  
  • Conduct trauma-centered intakes and safety assessment and collaborate with community-based resources to develop individualized risk management plans. 
  • Oversee adherence to contractual mandates with District Attorney’s Office of New York. 
  • Participate in group supervision, staff meetings and trainings to ensure that participants are receiving trauma-informed supportive services. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Abusive Partner Intervention Director.  

SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Master degree in Social Work. 
  • Licensed LMSW or LCSW. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferable. 
  • Three (3) years of experience working with diverse populations is preferred.   
  • Experience or training combined with experience in interfacing with the criminal justice system; accessing the vocational and educational service systems; and identifying the aptitudes of participants.  
  • Demonstrated success and thorough familiarity with engaging participant’s experience. 
  • Must be knowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence and diversity issues. 
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred 
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability in delivering client services including:  communication and listening skills; understanding of human interaction and personality development; ability to write and record case documentation; and proven skills in group counseling. 
  • Employee must be computer-literate and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Must have ability to be flexible of schedule as needed – evenings are required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
