What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Urology Center of Columbus, LLC?
Job Duties: Check in/out patients and collect proper money owed, resubmission of denials, Coding, claim submission, resubmission of denials, etc.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Two or more years in in-office medical billing.
Benefits: Hours worked are Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-term Disability, Pension Plan, PTO (Paid Time Off)
Position Specific:
- Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, collecting balances, establishing payment plans, correcting and resubmitting claims and appeals.
- Money drawers are balanced and closed daily when shift is completed. Ensures that cash, credit cards and checks balance with Aprima and drawer.
- Collect all co-pays, co-insurance and patient balances as appropriate.
- Verifies and inputs patient information as required to ensure that the practice has the most current information on file.
- Maintains account communications or correspondence with patient and third-party carriers until account is paid.
- Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, establishing payment plans, correcting and resubmitting claims and appeals.
- Works and executes assigned AR appropriately, effectively and timely.
- Ensures correct patient data such as diagnosis, treatment, proof of eligibility and insurance verification and all services are documented and correct when transmission of claim fails.
- Accurately post payments from insurance company. Understanding of remark codes when working ERA’s.
