Job Description:
The Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry serves over 400 people at its adult HIV clinic. Working from our clinic in Youngstown, the Clinical Medical Assistant will work collaboratively with other clinical staff members to provide exceptional, compassionate services to those living with HIV/AIDS in the Youngstown community. The Clinical Medical Assistant will work to prepare for daily clinics, keep accurate records and documentation, review patient medications and adherence, and will complete needed lab work.
Job Title: Clinical Medical Assistant
Job Duties:
a. Review of medications and adherence (including medications from other treating clinicians) and document in chart as part of rooming during clinic visit
b. Notify social worker or office manager of patient-reported barriers to care
c. Provide patient education on medication adherence
d. Ensure patients are scheduled and keeping appointments for GYN, dental, and eye care
e. Patient triage/rooming during clinics following established procedures
f. Complete blood draws
g. Complete HIV testing
h. Administer vaccines
i. Document in EMR and on billing sheets the services provided
j. Phone/fax in prescriptions per physician orders
k. Prep charts for clinic
l. Perform medical referrals and follow up
m. Fulfill all medical requests for medical records
n. Fulfill requests for medication refills
o. Retrieve lab results
p. Track medication delivery and pick up
q. Assist with patient discharge following clinics following established procedures
r. Assist with cleaning exam rooms after clinics
s. Keep exam rooms stocked & notify Nurse Manager of needed supplies
t. Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) activities as part of interdisciplinary staff meetings
u. Assist in authorizing patient medication shipments
v. Assist in coordinating patient education events such as Women’s and Men’s Health Days

b. Document/chart patient progress immediately and accurately
c. Perform work in a timely and productive manner
d. Maintain patient documentation
i. Document patient contact
ii. Document pertinent information from other agencies/providers
e. Take action to improve knowledge, skills and performance based on feedback or on self-identified needs
f. Maintain daily log
g. Maintain Time and Effort sheet
h. Report job-related or patient-related concerns to Clinic Director
i. Assist with Ministry fundraising when asked
j. Attend Ministry special events (i.e. fundraisers, etc.)
k. Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting required and must pass a BCI/FBI background check and must be drug-free
