About the Job:
Position Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient coordination and scheduling of manufacturing operations. Primary responsibilities include planning and organizing production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Production Schedule Planning:
- Develop and maintain production schedules in line with sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and manpower required for production.
Capacity and Resource Planning:
- Analyze production capacity and utilization to optimize resource allocation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to manage raw material availability and inventory levels.
Work Order Management:
- Generate and issue work orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness in detailing job requirements and specifications.
- Monitor work order progress and resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise during production.
Production Coordination:
- Collaborate with production teams to prioritize jobs, resolve scheduling conflicts, and ensure adherence to production schedules.
- Communicate any changes in production schedules to relevant stakeholders and departments.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction within the production planning process.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to production schedules, work orders, and inventory levels.
- Prepare regular reports on production performance, key metrics, and any deviations from planned schedules.
Requirements
- 3 years of direct work experience
- Excellent knowledge of Production Planning and Quality Control Principles.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people.
- Strong Project Management Skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Advanced MS Office skills, understanding of vlookup, data tables, charting, data sorting segregation and formula auditing.
- Experience with lean concepts/tools such as VSM, Kanban and Kaizen, PFEP, A3, 5 why.
- Understanding of production flow principles and processes.
