Overview:
Under the direction of the Manager, Membership Services & Operations and Membership & Events Coordinator, the intern will provide administrative support to the Membership & Events Department with an emphasis on customer service, while also assisting with events. This role includes but is not limited to timely responses to member service requests via phone, email, or live chat, assistance with membership registration, compliance, event support, membership program support, and general administrative work. This individual is on the front lines of USA Water Polo, and shall strive to provide professional, high-level customer service within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interact promptly with members and potential members via Zendesk, phone, and/or Gmail to provide information, troubleshoot, and/or answer inquiries regarding USA Water Polo’s database, events, products, services, and other online support.
- Assists with database support including membership registrations and renewals, login inquiries and compliance.
- Maintain member compliance records including but not limited to CPR, First Aid, SafeSport, and Date of Birth validations.
- Take on special projects and other tasks assigned by Memberships and Events Managers.
- Assist with the 2025 "Academic All-American" program. This includes responding to emails, grading transcripts, and data input.
- Assists with National Award nomination process and recognition programs.
- Maintain membership portions of the company website and understand the culture behind Water Polo.
- Opportunity to create innovative practices to help the growth and sustainability of the membership department.
- Assist the Events team with the implementation of High-Performance events as assigned.
- Assist the Events team with event preparation, support for event entries and payments, and tracking of member compliance as they relate to National Championship events.
- Comfortable driving supplies truck (including but not limited to a U-Haul truck/mini-truck/company van) to various events if needed.
- Under the supervision of the Events team, set-up & breakdown events (including but not limited to setting up tents/EZ-ups, hanging banners, inflatable pool courses, barriers).
- Follow event planning timelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) to ensure event deadlines are clearly communicated.
- General administrative assistance in the day-to-day tasks.
- If local, working from our office in Irvine ,CA at least once a week.
Skills and Specifications
- Striving for a higher level of education that requires internship hours to be fulfilled.

- Team player with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize to effectively meet deadlines.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Desire to think creatively to problem solve and execute refreshing ideas.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite and Google suites.
- Familiarity with sports industry and Water Polo is a plus, but not required.
- Experience working with database management systems a plus, but not required.
- Knowledgeable with Zendesk is a plus.
- CPR/First Aid certified a plus.
- Ability to travel for local events if needed.
- Can be flexible with availability.
- Willing to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
