What are the responsibilities and job description for the Game Day Producer position at USL Spokane?

Join the USL Spokane team as the Game Day Producer.  

The Game Day Producer oversees the match fan experience driving forward strategies to enrich the fan experience. This position manages the run of show, oversees all game day interns and other game day staff, and is responsible for all game day operational business functions.   To be successful in this role, the Game Day Producer must be fully committed to building relationships, think creatively about expanding opportunities, and have a high degree of initiative and passion for engaging a diverse group of people.

The Game Day Producer must be able to work all home games which requires heavy weekend work, flexible hours, extended days, evenings, and holidays.  This is a fully in person job working on site.  Time management is of the utmost importance to be successful in this role. Must be able to hold people accountable and provide feedback quickly and succinctly.  A high degree of personal initiative and ability to work independently is key.  We are looking for a creative thinker with experience generating new business ideas and creative solutions.  
 
Game Day Operations: 
  • Oversees and leads all game day operations and run of show for Spokane Velocity FC and Spokane Zephyr FC and ensures a dynamic and fun atmosphere is obtained with each match.  
  • Create ROS (run of show) document for each match – at least a month in advance.
  • Create PA script for each match – at least two weeks in advance. 
  • Must be able to attend all home matches with limited exceptions.  Attend away matches as needed.  
  • Oversees the set-up and breakdown of all home matches and troubleshoots any issues which arise.
  • Oversees the preparation of the stadium areas including the field and gates
  • Manage interns assigned to fan experience and game day operations.  Assigns intern tasks, schedules interns for games, ensures proper intern staffing, and directs the flow of interns to facilitate ongoing operational fulfillment. 
  • Upholds policies and procedures for locker room management, in compliance with USL Safeguarding and Collective Bargaining Agreements, and ensures proper locker room protocols are always followed including game days.  Upholds the most stringent standards for ensuring protocols are never breached and trains game day personnel and proper stadium and locker room protocols. 
  • Works collaboratively with the VP of Soccer Operations and game day operations staff.  Identifies and remedies any stadium issues that arise.  
  • Ensures all timelines are adhered to and assigns staff as needed for proper game day coverage.  Serves as the main point of contact for game day staff.  
  • Works with contacts of incoming teams for coordination of itinerary, accommodations, and overall club needs to ensure a smooth and vibrant experience for all visiting clubs.  
  • Works with external vendors to ensure proper ordering of inventory for game day. 
Fan Experience and Engagement
  • Identifies and executes game day initiatives with the aim of attracting more fans, enriching the fan experience, and increasing revenue.  This may include things such as in-game activities and ideas that create a fun and exciting atmosphere.  A high degree of creativity and ability to engage with and identify the interests of a wide fan base is critical.  
  • Utilize creativity, innovation, and research to develop meaningful in-game fan engagement promotions and experiences that create a WOW factor for fans and are within the established marketing and match day budgets.   
  • Plan and execute themes and promotions at each home match that engage fans and create loyalty.
  • Plan match themes and associated activations and promotions both at a higher level for the complete season ahead and on a more detailed level at least three months in advance, often done in the off season.
  • Manage and coordinate match activations and promotions among internal team members (ticketing and partnerships primarily as well as outside partners (PFD, food vendors, City, sponsors, production, others).
  • Clearly communicate and coordinate execution of all match themes, activations, and promotions to front office staff, including marketing, ticketing, and partnerships.
  • Actively lead and manage on and off-field activities, promotions, activations on match day, assuring partners and groups are informed, properly stationed and mobilized in accordance with run of show. 
  • Coordinates with the ticketing department the distribution and access of tickets to group, and special guests for game day themes and activations 
  • Serves as the liaison with the ticketing department to coordinate in game entertainment including halftime and national anthem.   
  • Plan and execute away match game watches in collaboration with local businesses and provide support to those lead by local businesses.
  • Research aspects of the local community of historical impact and relevant community areas of significance to incorporate into match themes and promotions.  
  • Strategize and implement fan engagement initiatives that actively support ticket and merchandise sales.  
  • Assist in developing the game day and promotions budget and ensures all activities align within established budget.  
  • Support the Partnership team in areas of sponsor and partner fulfillment.
  • Serves as a strong leader in game day management, execution, and fan experience.  Has a comprehensive understanding of the game day flow, responsibilities of staff and departments, and can assist in all areas as needed on game day. 
  • In the off season, conducts work in theme planning and execution for the coming year for Velocity and Zephyr.  
Project Management:
  • Create and schedule new projects in project management system, particularly those related to fan engagement and game day operations.
  • Utilize project management system to manage projects with operations team from inception to completion/production.
  • Utilize strong prioritization skills to manage highly time sensitive projects and tasks and take ownership of meeting deadlines and managing workload appropriately. 
  • Oversees and manages the game day budget and ensures ongoing compliance with budget.
  • Continually manages the internship recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentoring program. 
Additional Responsibilities: 
  • Provides ongoing excellent customer service to all USL Spokane contacts and always represents USL Spokane in a professional manner with a focus on valuing diverse perspectives and input. 
  • Collaborates with game day operations management to ensure clear expectations on level of autonomy and reporting or approval procedures.  
  • This position must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, and holidays. 

 Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, or related field strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years marketing, event coordination, or other relevant experience required.  
  • A combination or accumulation of applicable work-related experience and/or education may be recognized as sufficiently meeting the requirements based upon educational programs and specific experience. 
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check including a motor vehicle report.  
  • Ability to pass SafeSport training.  
  • Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and maintain legally required insurance.

Compensation and Benefits: 
  • Non-exempt position with a range of $25 - $30 / hour 
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus and Commission.
  • Paid vacation policy 2 weeks and paid sick leave 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums. 
  • 50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision.  
  • Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D.
