Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty
position as Assistant/Associate Professor/Head of Library Technology in University
Libraries to begin in the fall of 2022.

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Dean of
University Libraries, the incumbent has
leadership responsibility for the supervision and administration of information
technology operations of the University Libraries and serves as Director of the
state-wide Mississippi Digital Library, while holding tenure or tenure-track
faculty status and rank.
1. Leads library technology initiatives and ensures that activities are congruent with the University Libraries’ mission and goals. Sets annual goals and objectives and determines strategies for accomplishing them.
2. Leads and manages all aspects of library technology, including digitization lab, institutional repository, library services platform and discovery service, website, and desktop support.
3. Supervises library technology personnel.
4. Serves as the Director of the Mississippi Digital Library (MDL).
5. Contributes as a senior member of the Libraries’ leadership team to library-wide planning, building design, personnel management and planning, and budgeting decisions, including setting the Libraries’ strategic directions.
6. Engages in scholarship and professional development activities and provides service to the Libraries, the University, and the library profession to fulfill the expectations of a tenured or tenure-track faculty member.
7. Seeks funding to support USM through developing relationships with potential donors, supporters, and funding agencies. Performs other duties as assigned.
