What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interventional Cardiologist position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked #14 in the United States, the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the No. 2 hospital in Texas for Cardiology and Heart Surgery by U.S. News and World Report, is seeking an outstanding cardiologist for a position which will have duties at both the UT Southwestern and Dallas Veteran Affairs Medical Center locations. Candidate will be superior in all aspects of Cardiology and capable of teaching Cardiology fellows, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students through didactic lectures and participation in various multidisciplinary conferences. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Applicants should meet these qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of ACGME-accredited cardiology and Interventional Cardiology fellowship programs
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas

Cardiology Division, Facilities & Equipment:

  • Nationally recognized Cardiology Division with more than 100 faculty members that fosters a collegial and collaborative environment with a focus on faculty career development.
  • William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital has 6 laboratories dedicated to cardiac catheterization/EP. A state-of-the art facility that is visually appealing, incorporates advanced technology, and was designed for patient comfort and well-being and to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration, Clements University Hospital is a centerpiece for carrying out UT Southwestern's three-part mission - to heal, innovate, and educate.
  • ACGME-accredited Cardiology fellowship programs including Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant, Interventional Cardiology, as well as Texas Medical Board-accredited fellowship programs in Structural Interventional Cardiology, Advanced Echocardiography, Cardio-Oncology, and Cardiology Advanced Research and Clinical Training, Hypertension.
  • A close collaboration exists with the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery comprised of skilled cardiac surgeons who serve as a regional referral source for complex, quaternary care.
