We are seeking an experienced Traffic Control Training & Quality Manager to lead training, certification, and quality assurance for our traffic control operations. This role is responsible for developing and delivering training programs, ensuring compliance with MUTCD, OSHA, and local/state regulations, and maintaining high safety and quality standards across all traffic control crews.
The ideal candidate combines strong field experience with the ability to train, mentor, and continuously improve operational performance.
Location: Office & Field-Based (Regular job site visits required)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-house training for traffic control staff, including flaggers, leads, and supervisors.
- Certify new employees and manage re-certification for existing staff.
- Develop, update, and maintain training materials, procedures, and guidelines.
- Organize and deliver training in compliance with MUTCD, OSHA, and applicable local and state requirements.
- Review field crew errors, incidents, and non-compliance issues.
- Provide structured, constructive feedback to employees and crew leadership.
- Proactively prevent shutdowns, rejections, and negative comments from clients or municipalities.
- Continuously improve the quality, safety, and consistency of traffic control operations.
- Regularly visit active job sites to observe traffic control operations.
- Verify that traffic control setups comply with approved Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).
- Support field teams in real-time conditions and make on-site corrections as needed.
- Review Traffic Control Plans prior to submission to clients or municipalities.
- Participate in the TCP approval process and provide practical recommendations to improve constructability and field execution.
- Collaborate with TCP planners and Professional Engineers (PEs), as applicable.
- Work closely with HR and Operations managers on employee training and development.
- Support employee career progression (Flagger → Lead → Supervisor).
- Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing company-wide traffic control standards.
- Proven experience in traffic control and/or work zone safety.
- Certified Flagger Instructor.
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or coaching field staff.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
