JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for administering physical therapy treatment as supervised by licensed Physical Therapist after initial evaluation. Administers treatment and physical agents as supervised by the therapist in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of function by restoring function, ensuring safety, and preventing disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Reports to Physical Therapy Director. Non-Exempt position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for providing treatment as directed by Physical Therapist as defined by scope of practice.
Treats patients in accordance with Physical Therapy standards of care and practice.
Observes and evaluates treatment effect, discusses observations with the Physical Therapist.
Assesses patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation. Communicates appropriately with the therapist for intervention.
Performs components of an appropriate assessment/reassessment on patients, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, geriatrics and the general patient population.
Assists with formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate. The Physical Therapist is apprised of conclusions.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to therapists, physicians, hospital staff and members of the department.
Coordinates and assists with directing patient care to ensure patient’s needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
Assists in ordering supplies, maintains adequate PAR levels to assure all supplies and equipment is readily available.
Documents in the medical record for all Physical Therapy treatments performed for the inpatient and outpatient population.
Confers with the individuals most closely associated with the patient and keeps them informed on patient needs, treatment modifications and progress.
Readily accepts other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Currently licensed by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Current BLS for healthcare provider’s required.
Required Skills
Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Functional Job Requirements:
Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.
