JOB TITLE:
Painter
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, perform journeyman-level painting and related work required for preservation, cleanliness, security and beautification of interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, parking lots, and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare surfaces for paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain application using appropriate chemicals and tools.
- Apply paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer and stain to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray guns.
- Install glass including preparing frames, measuring and cutting to specification, placing and securing glass in frames utilizing a variety of procedures and tools.
- Mix paint to specified colors and textures using oil, thinner, drying agents and various pigments and solvents.
- Tape and texture drywall surfaces.
- Install resilient tile and replace broken tile including preparing surfaces, installing tile base, arranging tile designs, cutting tile to fit securely and neatly around edges and corners.
- Erect and safely utilize scaffolding, ladders, or swings.
- Clean brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other tools; clean work areas and installed glass.
- Finish or refinish furniture utilizing the appropriate procedures and materials.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine equipment and materials required and methods of installation to complete project.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of U.S. Department of Labor approved painting and drywall apprenticeship programs (4 years) which meets their requirements to attain journeyman-level status.
Experience: 2 years painting experience including taping and texturing drywall at journeyman-level status as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Prepare surfaces for paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or stain application using appropriate chemicals and tools.
- Tape, texture and repair drywall surfaces at the journeyman level
