Position Summary

Partners with management to promote the growth, quality, and efficiency of V&V Supremo Foods’ production processes and procedures.

Five Primary Responsibilities

  • Establishes and/or adjusts production schedules to supply & demand volumes.
  • Find solutions to positively improve working conditions and direct/motivate the workforce.
  • Supply and maintain necessary materials, tools & inventory levels for required objectives and work tasks.
  • Enforce policies and procedures to meet or exceed quality specifications and safety standards. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of equipment ensuring food safety.
  • Responsible for production schedules, labor use and worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

SQF (Safe Quality Food) Compliance

It is the responsibility of every employee to ensure that V & V Supremo’s food safety and quality management system complies with food safety regulations and SQF compliance. In turn, our customers are assured that the product has been produced, processed, prepared, and handled according to the highest possible standards.

All employees are required to comply and promote compliance with V & V Supremo’s food safety program and polices, including but not limited to:

Hazard Prevention: Help to keep all work areas clean and free of unsafe obstacles.

Educate: Educate yourself and others on the correct standard operating procedures for the task you are responsible for.

Accountable: It is your responsibility to understand and comply with the Company’s SQF policies and procedures

Report Food Safety Issues: It is your responsibility to communicate any food safety and quality problems to your supervisor to initiate action.

Training: Attend all required training and pass all necessary knowledge or skill-based evaluations.

Key Activities

  • Supervises staff of 18 to 24
  • Safety
  • Ensure monthly training is executed according to plan.
  • Supply and verify the employees are using the right safety tools (PPE) and equipment.
  • Lead by example, safety first and ensure employee ownership.
  • Report any injuries, conduct investigation (root cause analysis), and develop action plan in conjunction with management to prevent from reoccurrence.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing safety (OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)) regulations and procedures.
  • Quality
  • Responsible for being a resource for all SQF related policy/procedure inquiries.
  • Responsible for reporting any potential food safety issues to Plant Manager and Quality Control Department.
  • Responsible for keeping master sanitation schedule (MSS) and sanitation standard operating procedures and ensuring sanitation needs are met.
  • Meets or exceeds Pasteurized Milk Ordinance standards.
  • Trains/retrains staff on policies/procedures that help ensure SQF adherence and promote food safety related behaviors and integrity as it relates to a food safety culture.
  • Maintains time and production records, requisitions, and verify product specs.
  • Responsible for complying with and enforcing all Safe Quality Food (SQF/HACCP) polices/procedures and requirements.

  • Confers with other supervisors during shift exchange to coordinate facility activities.
  • Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, recommends improvements in production methods and equipment, standard operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Manage performance, drive accountability and recognition of employees based on job description/classifications and performance metric (safety, quality, performance, cost)
  • Ensure CBA is followed.
  • Verify and approve scheduled hours.
  • Performance/Production
  • Familiar with dairy manufacturing equipment and food packaging systems
  • Knowledge of Form-Fill-Seal Vacuum Packaging Machines
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • KPI (Key Performance Indicator) daily reports (People, Quality, Production, Performance, Cost)
  • Conduct weekly cycle counts of raw materials, packaging materials and finish goods.
  • Order materials based on production schedule and aligned with Plant Management based on availability.
  • Cost
  • Ensure quality specs to avoid write offs.
  • Manage labor hours and overtime below or equal to budget.
  • Ensure pounds per hour per SKU are meeting or exceeding standards.
  • Minimize waste product, supplies, materials, and utilities.
  • Maximize yield and minimize giveaway (overweight).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to implement SQF standards and meet overall production standards.
  • Production planning and execution under the supervision of Plant Manager.
  • Successful implementation of assigned production projects.

Skills Required

  • Able to take ownership hold self-accountable, improve the production processes, and increase efficiency.
  • Spanish and English (written and spoken) preferred

Necessary Experience

  • Production experience in the consumer goods industry (prefer food processing & sanitation exp.)
  • Continuous process / production process improvement knowledge
  • ERP / MRP knowledge and troubleshooting
  • OEE experience
  • Familiar with manufacturing equipment including packaging.
  • Experience supervising Spanish speaking workforce (18 to 24)
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Production Supervisor
  • BA or BS desired
