The 10th on Vail Mountain is seeking a career oriented individual with creativity, a passion for food, and who is committed to delivering excellence at all times. This individual typically has a minimum of six months of culinary experience, or is enrolled in a culinary program, and is willing to work in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant. This individual is to possess some basic cooking and knife skills, and always has a sense of urgency. Applicants are expected to adhere to the company’s mission, vision and value statements. Individuals must be knowledgeable of the company’s policies and initiatives for Vail Mountain Dining, Environmental efforts, and Health and Safety. This position will have specific responsibilities within these areas and individuals are expected to understand them. Individuals will be responsible for ownership of designated stations and execution of meal and après service. You will be evaluated by your “home” kitchen and mentor in writing at 30 days to review your progress. Station and kitchen rotation depends upon business demands, your initiative, skill set, development and ability to complete assigned tasks correctly, to standards and on time.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Ability to develop basic culinary knowledge and competent knife skills.
- Ability to handle own station, work off a prep list and complete station setup in time allotted, fabricate items to standard during service. and completes prep list for next service period.
- Understands the importance of standards, speed, and quality.
- Ensures proper product utilization with minimal waste.
- Practices good personal hygiene, safe food handling and culinary skills within the restaurant.
- Must comply with all policies and procedures for Vail Mountain Dining, your assigned kitchen, and Vail Resorts.
- Must be flexible to work varying and occasionally overtime hours, possibly in other culinary departments when business demands.
- Help other departments when need arises.
- Attend all trainings and classes as assigned or advised by Supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by your Supervisor or Senior Management
Qualifications:
- Experience cooking in a professional kitchen.
- Must possess the following key essential qualities - adaptability, flexibility, positive attitude, even temperament and a keen eye for detail.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Ability to work standing for 8 hours.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Flexibility in scheduling, ability to work weekends and holidays including: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, December 23rd to January 4th, President’s Day Weekend and other holidays as requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
