What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metallurgist position at Valbruna Group?
Founded in 1925 and a leader in the production of Stainless Steels, Nickel Alloys and Titanium Long products, Valbruna is a private company with 2,500 employees and an annual output of approx. 250,000 tons of specialty steels. Production is primarily focused on Stainless Steels and Specialty Alloys, available in blooms and billets, ingots, round, square, flat, hexagonal and angle bars, wire rod, wire, reinforcement bars and threaded rods, with the expressed goal of satisfying the most sophisticated needs of the customer. To that end, Valbruna is constantly updating its production capabilities and experience.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, VSSI Metallurgist’s responsibilities include:
- Interpretation of customer requirements with regard to quality and specific material requirements including interpretation and evaluation of applicable external specifications (ASTM, AMS, ASME etc.).
- Verification and training of material testing procedures.
- Evaluation of Metallurgical Testing results and data specifically related to nonconformance, trends and recommendations for improvement.
- Performing internal audits.
- Writing, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the management system including procedures, corrective actions, process changes and continuous improvement exercises.
- Evaluating and recommending continuous improvement projects and performing the role (when appropriate) as team leaders.
- Disposition of Non-conforming Material.
- Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform additional, related duties as assigned.

- Other Metallurgist, Chemists, Lab Supervision.
Education and Training:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Metallurgy / Material / Chemical or Physical Sciences with sufficient experience. Alternatively, 10 years minimum, specifically related experience is necessary for this position.
