What are the responsibilities and job description for the MDT Specialist position at Valencia Shelter Services?
To provide coordination and leadership to the members of the Valencia County Multi-Disciplinary Team and support families at the VSS Child Advocacy Center. The coordination of these services will contribute to the following outcomes:
· Ensure that prompt and appropriate actions are taken to assure the safety of the child victims, and to reduce the trauma of the victimization for the child.
· Minimize the number of required interviews for the child victim.
· Facilitate recommended medical and mental health services.
· Coordinate efforts in order to eliminate duplication of services
· Increase the likelihood of successful prosecution of offenders.
· Provide support for non-offending parents in order to enhance their ability to protect and care for their children.
· Promote policies, practices and procedures that are culturally sensitive.
Qualifications:
· AA (or working towards) in Human Service field and any combination of education and training with the target population or 2 years relevant experience in human service related field, team facilitation, problem solving and conflict resolution, and working knowledge, experience and expertise in the area of child abuse/neglect and family violence. Bilingual strongly preferred.
· Experience working with diverse populations.
· Must be 21 years of age or older.
· Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Be part of a team.
· Must be able to complete all required NMCSAP/NMCADV/NMCSVANW/CVRC/CYFD training before assisting survivors
· Maintains good physical and emotional well-being.
· Demonstrates personal qualities such as good judgment, responsibility, and an ability to relate effectively with clients and family members.
· Must be able to pass a background check.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Screen and triage referrals to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
· Compile and Maintain Case Record/Information
· Schedule/Facilitate and Coordinate Team Meetings
· Provide ongoing case coordination and care and support to all MDT members.
· Develop/Implement Policies/Procedures
· Identify Needs and Coordinate Training Activities
· Educate the community regarding the MDT and recruit and onboard new team members as appropriate.
· Lead members to prepare and implement for accreditation.
· Provide advocacy and Support to families at the VSS Child Advocacy Center.
· Other duties to be assigned as needed.
