This role will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global fixed asset accounting and is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records of the company’s fixed assets across multiple systems. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fixed Assets Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global fixed asset accounting and is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely records of the company’s fixed assets across multiple systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with in-depth knowledge of capital expenditures, asset management, and month-end close processes.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global fixed asset accounting, providing guidance and oversight on fixed asset processes and policies.
- Record fixed asset additions and retirements in the fixed asset system (Sage).
- Complete the consolidated monthly fixed asset roll forward, capital additions schedules, and prepare reports for the monthly financial reporting package.
- Review Repair and Maintenance (R&M) expenses monthly and prepare a detailed written R&M expense analysis.
- Support month-end and year-end close, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare month-end Fixed Asset reconciliations and other supporting documentation.
- Collect and compile the necessary information to support property tax return preparation for company assets, ensuring timely and compliant filings with local, state, and federal authorities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Support external audits by providing necessary schedules and documentation.
- Collaborate with management on ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.
- Other duties assigned to by manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on fixed assets and CAPEX.
- Sage Fixed Asset system experience is required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close procedures.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience working in a multi-entity or global organization.
- Familiarity with consolidated reporting across multiple systems.
- Knowledge of property tax compliance requirements.
- Long periods of time working on a computer and performing key-boarding activities.
