Role Overview:

Onboard and train staff to provide SUD assessments, and admissions, Individual therapy, support groups, MRT groups, harm reduction education groups, crisis services, SBIRT and relapse prevention. Train and support staff to communicate with courts, other treatment providers, CPS and other community service providers as needed. Review, provide feedback and endorse SUDPT created progress reports, case notes, benefit requests, and other related documentation. Provide oversight of client services provided by SUDPTs. Assures quality program mission, goals, and objectives are met. Assures program manager is thoroughly informed in all aspects of SUD treatment. Develop and provide training for SUD Intake Assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the structure of Outpatient SUD programing to remain in conformance with WAC’s, RCWs, and County Contracts and support SUDPTs in maintaining the same.
  • Supervise daily activities of the SUD team and educate SUD clinicians on best practices in working with individuals who suffer from substance use disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders.
  • Assure SUD staff complete accurate evaluations, diagnoses, tier assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, closing summaries and other necessary reports and correspondence related to client care. Review and approve SUD services generated by SUDP/SUDPTs.
  • Provide consultation & supervision to SUD clinicians providing SUD services to include evidence-based practices, case planning with collateral systems, coordination of treatment planning with families, outside systems and the treatment team.
  • Train SUD staff on best practices for Urine analysis and Breath analysis.
  • Embrace services with respect for cultural diversity.
  • Train staff to use a Trauma Informed Care and Recovery approach to client engagement and services. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including mental health clinicians and primary care providers, providing leadership around chemical dependency, including Tobacco education.
  • Work with the OP SUD Program Manager to implement new initiatives and processes included in the SUD Services Implementation Strategic Plan.
  • Keep client records in compliance with WAC, Medicaid, Medicare, and other contracts.
  • Practice and incorporate Quality Improvement principles in daily work activities.
  • Learn and follow all related JCAHO, Federal, State, local and Agency requirements and established Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend required in-service training and meetings.
  • Strong understanding of ASAM Dimensions, DSM 5, and SBIRT assessment screening tools, AUDIT, DAST, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and GAIN-SS.


What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences field desired. If a bachelor’s degree is in progress, the degree must be completed in 1 year of hire. - Must be able to show proof upon hire.
  • Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional Certification.
  • Three years of experience working as a SUDP.
  • Clinical Supervisor certification and one year of Clinical Supervision and training experience desired.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Pass required background checks.
