What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jobs & Hope Peer Recovery Support Specialist position at Valley Comprehensive?
NATURE OF WORK: With supervision, the incumbent functions independent but in collaboration with the treatment team in a specialized extended care residential program for women with a primary diagnosis of addiction. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist’s duties include providing outreach, support, and recovery check-ups in the community with addicted individuals and their families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in the human service field, preferably in chemical dependency.
- Knowledge of treatment resources including a working knowledge of the 12-Step Fellowships.
- Knowledge of the role of the family in recovery.
- Ability to respond professionally and effectively to crisis.
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to comply with Client’s Rights.
- Ability to comply with Valley’s and Division departmental safety procedures.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Ability to legally transport clients.
- Current CPR/First-Aid Certificate or ability to be trained.
