What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Crisis Worker position at Valley Comprehensive?
NATURE OF WORK: To provide support, service coordination, crisis intervention, and referral to those in crisis for Valley’s catchment area. Assists in providing emergency psychiatric services both during traditional and non-traditional business hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to perform Essential Duties as outlined below.
- BA/BS in Human Service Field.
- Ability to legally transport clients.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and Mandt Certifications.
- Ability to comply with Client’s Rights.
- Ability to comply with Valley’s and Division departmental safety procedures.
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Crisis work.
- Experience working in the Mental Health field.
- Knowledge of commitment laws.
- Knowledge of community resources for behavioral health problems including mental illness, substance abuse and mental retardation/developmental disabilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-Doors 70% of the time; outdoors and transportation areas 30% of the time
WORK PACE: Pace determined by the need of client(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Completes and submits documentation as required by Valley, Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurances and any other licensing agencies. Employee ensures that documentation (such as summaries, progress notes, timesheets, SAL’s, expense sheets, etc.) are completed accurately and timely and will reflect services the client(s) has received as appropriate.
- Assist individuals in need of crisis support and/or referrals.
- Work with other agencies, hospitals, providers, etc. to ensure the referral process is offered.
- Provision of on-site crisis stabilization, crisis intervention and clinical evaluation.
- Facilitation of admissions to private, public and State hospitals.
- Works with other members of the Crisis Team to coordinate services.
- Provide supportive crisis services by way of Valley’s Crisis Hotline.
- Assist the Clinical Screening Coordinator with screening telephone calls and walk-ins.
- Assure that the safety, health and well being of consumers are always maintained on or off site.
- Implements treatment and behavioral plans in compliance with Valley’s and State guidelines.
- Adheres to Valley’s Standards of Conduct and Compliance and follows ethical guidelines of their profession.
- Work with other agencies, hospitals, providers, etc. to ensure the referral process is offered.
- Promotes appropriate community interactions by handling public interactions in a professional and competent manner. Returns telephone calls and requests for information in a timely manner, promotes a positive image of the Program and the Agency and maintain a good rapport with agency contacts.
- Provide Service Coordination that includes: writing treatment plans, completing intake evaluations, and updating functional assessments.
- Provide supportive counseling.
- Adheres to Valley’s Productivity Levels.
- Adheres to Valley’s Compliance Levels.
- Monitor, maintain and use appropriately, all equipment and supplies
- Support and help in the training of new employees.
- Attends in-service training’s and mandated meetings as assigned.
- OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
