Job Title: Wellness Center Attendant
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Center Attendant position at the Valley Shore YMCA is responsible for the services and operations offered in the wellness center while providing high quality services for members, participants, and guests of the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Builds relationships with members, attending to the group needs and requests of health seekers, members and guests
2. Conducts new member fitness appointments advising members on classes and personal training options
3. Checks and maintains all equipment to ensure proper maintenance
4. Keeps environment safe by ensuring policies and procedures are followed, advising members of safe and unsafe technique and timely problem-solving of issues with members that may arise
5. Consistently shares knowledge with members with exercise modifications, keeping current on fitness trends, and YMCA opportunities
6. Works as a team member, maintaining a professional, helpful and positive attitude
7. Maintains current certification in CPR, First Aid and AED
8. Other tasks and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness related field is preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of all principles of health and fitness.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Community CPR, First Aid, and AED Essentials required within 30 days of hire.
- New staff orientation, child abuse prevention, ongoing YMCA 101 trainings, YMCA’s Healthy Lifestyle
Principles and Strength & Conditioning trainings and certifications must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment or next available certification training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
