What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Valley Veterinary Hospital?
Veterinary Assistant needed for busy, small animal practice. Must be able to work weekday hours as our hospital is open 7am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday and Friday 7am-4:30pm. This position is 4 days a week, with 10 hour shifts.
The essential functions/requirements of the position are: ability to multitask, attention to detail, effective communication skills, efficient, positive attitude, initiative, teamwork, comfortable working with/handling animals of all kinds, ability to follow directions, run errands for the hospital, ability to stand for long periods of time, physical dexterity, physical strength and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assisted lifting of over 50 lbs. Position requires ability to work well with other team members and individually.
An assistant has a wide range of duties, ranging from: cleaning kennels, stocking and cleaning, restraining animals for procedures, restraining for radiographs, setting up/cleaning of surgery areas, preparing surgery packs, assisting in administration of medications or treatments, patient monitoring, and assisting technicians, veterinarians and all other team members.
