Valley Village is a non-profit organization that serves 400 men and women with developmental challenges through residential and day programs. All of our programs are located in the San Fernando Valley and operated by a staff of over 300 people that love what they do.
We are currently seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse. The hours for the position are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Hours will vary and may start earlier and/or end later depending on the needs of the houses assigned to you and the consumers.
The Registered Nurse delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Responsible for responding to company phone calls/messages during working hours and occasionally after hours. Job Duties:
- Attends Doctor and/or Dental appointments with their clients.
- Keeps residential physician up to date on changes.
- Organizes lab work, and follows up obtaining the results and ensuring the ordering doctor receives all necessary information.
- Coordinate medical/dental care of the residents, train staff and oversee medical records of our consumers.
- Transport clients to or from appointments.
- Checks the monthly med cycles for accurate fills, reviews the physician’s orders and ensures that the medication sheets are accurate.
- Document any health-related changes for clients.
- Update health care plans.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team meetings to develop individual program plans.
- Provide instruction and training to staff for medication administration and other client care needs.
- Review and co-sign LVN's work as needed.
- Performs other tasks as needed to fulfill client's healthcare needs.
Qualifications:
- Current RN License in the State of California by the Board of Registered Nursing.
- Must have at least 1 years’ experience working in a licensed health care facility.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
- Must be able to meet all insurance requirements which include a valid driver's license with a good driving record and a criminal record clearance.
- Must be capable of lifting/transferring up to 50 lbs.
- All candidates must pass a physical exam, TB screening and fingerprint clearance.
