An apartment maintenance technician, is responsible for the general upkeep of an apartment complex. Their duties include:
- Maintenance: Performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and updates. This includes plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repairs, and more.
- Appearance: Keeping the property looking good, both inside and out. This includes painting, refinishing floors, and patching roofs.
- Emergency response: Responding to after-hour emergencies and other service requests in a timely manner.
- Community maintenance: Keeping common areas clean, free of trash and debris, and snow-removed.
- Vacant apartments: Preparing vacant apartments for the market, including reporting any maintenance concerns.
- Inventory: Assisting with monitoring and controlling maintenance supplies.
- Communication: Maintaining open communication with property management and residents.
- Professionalism: Maintaining a professional and courteous attitude and appearance.
- Training: Attending and participating in training seminars as requested.
Apartment maintenance technicians may specialize in a particular area, such as electrical systems or furnaces, but should be able to work on a variety of projects. Their duties may vary depending on the size of the apartment complex.
