What are the responsibilities and job description for the External Mortgage Loan Officer position at Vantage Credit Union?
Job Functions
- Interview members applying for residential mortgages to make certain all pertinent information/data is collected.
- Perform preliminary analysis of mortgage applications to make certain that member(s) qualifies for the loan based upon the information provided at the time of application.
- Prepare and send initial disclosures to member(s) so that government regulations are met and informed.
- Be knowledgeable of underwriting criteria and pricing; knowledgeable of FNMA and FHLMC underwriting guidelines.
- Network with external business referral partners to generate leads.
- Call on provided trigger leads list daily.
- Incumbent should possess five years of increasingly responsible experience in mortgage lending and be familiar with the loan origination functions. Be familiar with all credit union services and possess the ability to cross-sell them to members. Able to retain and expand external business partners for referral sources.
- The individual should have excellent oral, written and listening skills; be able to handle pressure; effectively communicate with all levels of personnel; have the ability to work several projects simultaneously and satisfy the required objectives; and most importantly, provide courteous service to the membership.
- In order to maintain compliance with the federal Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act), MLOs at Mortgage Solutions, LLC must maintain professional state-licensing requirements.
- A college degree in a business-related field or its equivalent of five years financial institution experience, specifically in mortgage lending, is required. Experience with Encompass software is highly recommended. Attendance of credit union industry seminars, workshops, and conventions is also required.
