The standard pay range for this role is between $46,500 and $53,050

: This position is available to candidates at the Varsity Spirit division offices in the following region:

  • Baltimore, MD


WORK HOURS:
Full time


TRAVEL REQUIREMEN
T: Event travel and attendance at staff meetings & trainings is required. Event travel will include overnight stays for events. As part of the event operations team during the event season which runs from October through May this role is expected to be available to work 2-3 weekends per month.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Judge Operations Specialist reports to the Judge Operations Coordinator and the National Scoring Director. Event travel and attendance at staff meetings & trainings is required.


The Judge Operations Specialist is important member of our Varsity All Star Scoring team, ultimately responsible for supplying the Varsity All Star Certified Judges to all Varsity All Star events in their region.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
:

  • Oversee all Judges in their region.
  • Staff Judges to Varsity All Star events in their region.
  • Assist the Legacy Judging Operating Specialists on legacy events in their region.
  • Work closely with the Regional offices to ensure the proper number of judging panels are supplied for each event.
  • Work with the Regional offices to confirm judges, secure travel arrangements and approve payments.
  • Follow up with judges post event that need additional training based on knowledge-based issues.
  • Inform the National Scoring Director of any judges that need to be suspended based on lack of knowledge, behavior, or any other professionalism issues.
  • Provide feedback to judges in their region at the end of each season.
  • Play a supporting role in Judges Training/Curriculum.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Judges in their region.
  • Assist with submitting order forms & packing lists for judge’s supplies.
  • Manage Judging budget event P&L to ensure we stay within budget for each event within the region.


Additional Job Functions:

  • Serves in a support role at events.
  • Assist with any Virtual Events in a Scoring Role.
  • Work End Season Events in a Scoring Role.
  • MUST be available to work some combination of in-person and/or virtually these MAJOR events, which include but not limited to the following:
    • “Select” World Bid Events (based on event participation)
    • JAMfest Cheer Super Nationals
    • CHEERSPORT Nationals
    • NCA ASN
    • UCA IASC
    • U.S. Finals (based on event participation)
    • Regional Summit (based on event participation)
    • Summit and D2 Summit


QUALIFICATIONS
:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Strong fluency in Microsoft Excel and Google Forms.
  • High level of customer service acumen.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected customer issues effectively.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in and knowledge of current and previous scoring systems
  • Experience in the cheer and dance industry is preferred

  • While not participating in an event this job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required.
  • During events the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required.
  • The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and manipulate equipment that is a minimum of 30 lbs. is required.
