What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Technician II position at VAUPELL INDUSTRIAL?
Position purpose/core responsibilities
Maintains and repairs tools, provides Molding department with tools in correct configurations for production, maintains tooling records and inventory, performs preventative maintenance on tools and updates log.
Main Duties
• Develop and maintain Preventative Maintenance program, perform tool maintenance and repair activities.
• Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping which result in an atmosphere which is safe and clean for all employees.
• Establish operating indicators (metrics) which measure tool room performance on a regular basis and communicate this information to management and to critical customers as needed or directed.
• Identify and implement ongoing continuous improvements.
• Works with Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and the molding department to ensure optimum level of manufacturing.
• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. • Documents and maintains records of maintenance, repair and changes of all tooling.
Qualification Guidelines
• Candidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)
Physical requirements
• Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.
• Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur.
• Must be able to lift 80-100 lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to operate powered and nonpowered hand tools.
Skill, training, or educational requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Prefer completion of toolmaker / mold maker apprenticeship program.
• Experience: Ten years of experience in a tool room. Must have working knowledge of plastic injection molding industry.
• Strong commitment to quality, productivity and team performance in the workplace
• Excellent teamwork, organizational and communication skills • Proficiency in spoken and written English language
• CNC experience preferred.
• Welding experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
