What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Caretaker position at VCA Animal Hospitals?
VCA SylvaniaVET is looking for a motivated, client-focusing, pet-loving individual to join our animal caretaker team! We are looking for someone who can provide a safe and loving environment for our boarding guests while their parents are away. Primary Responsibilities:
- Care for all breeds and sizes of canines and felines
- Feeding, Watering and administering medications to feline and canine guests
- Supervise and walk all breeds of canines outside
- Engage in one-on-one enrichment time with pets
- Clean and monitor kennels, common areas and aisles including waste and litter
- Preform baths and toe nail trims
- Laundry and dishes
- Handle credit card machines and cash transactions
- Answering general calls and securing boarding reservations via email and telephone
- Scanning and uploading paperwork
- Checking in clients and recording all necessary information on paperwork, both on paper and in computer software
- Checking out clients and communicating general information
- Communicate effectively with peers and clients
- Learn and understand dog body language
- Ability to control all sizes of dogs on leash
- Ability to work independently and as a team
A Strong Candidate Will Have:
- A love for animals
- Great communication via email, text message and phone
- Flexible availability
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
Schedule
- 6, 8 or 12 hour shifts
- Weekends and Holidays
- Mornings, Afternoons and Evenings
Job Type
- Full time (30 hours)
- Part Time (29 hours or less)
