Terms and Conditions apply** RESPONSIBILITIES: This position directly supervises the Central Sterile Processing team per shift assigned. Provides administrative and technical oversight of day-to-day activities of Sterile Technicians and Assistants in the department. Oversees individual employee development and training, and conducts performance appraisals. Continuously maintains outstanding customer service to patients and others and adheres to the VCU STAR Service Framework. 1. Ensure the activities of the department are supporting effective operation of the facility and are completed in an efficient and thorough manner. (Quality, Productivity, Staffing Assignment, Competency Checklist) 2. Build and maintain an environment that fosters open communication, education and collegial relationships (Star Service, Staff Growth) 3. Follow all relevant policies, guidelines, and standard procedures to ensure that the department is consistent in its operations. (AORN, AAMI, IAHCSMM, FDA, & VCU Policies) TASKS and DUTIES • Daily: Stays informed about employees’ progress and performance through both formal methods (e.g., status reports) and informal methods (e.g., management by walking around). Provide timely guidance and feedback to help staff accomplish a task or solve a problem. • Daily: Run, review and address productivity and quality reports to ensure staff are meeting daily targets • Daily: Run priority report to determine container assembly priority – Trays should NOT be unassembled beyond 48 hours. • Daily: Assigned staff to duties/tasks based on a rotating/fair method and/or the demands of the department. • Daily: Participates in daily huddle and updates in Microsoft Team • Monthly: Report out to manager/director of team’s quality, productivity and growth plan • Quarterly: Have a face-to-face meetings with individual staff to go over their performance in behavior, quality, productivity and growth (career progression). Please use analytical reports and performance measures. SKILLS & Recurring Activities: • Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations. • Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as required in order to service a diverse customer base. • Ability to demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the organization and to conform to proper standards of professional dress, attitude and demeanor.
