Pay Range: $120,000-$160,000
Job Summary:
The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership for all Human Resources functions across a large, multi-site workforce of over 1,700 employees. This role partners with executive leadership, legal counsel, payroll, and union representatives to ensure a compliant, equitable, and high-performing organization. The Director of Human Resources oversees employee relations, labor relations, benefits administration (including multiple 401(k) plans), payroll oversight, compliance, investigations, performance management, and training and development.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and risk management.
• Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and programs aligned with business objectives.
• Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, performance management, and terminations.
• Ensure consistent application of policies and progressive discipline.
• Manage labor relations in unionized environments, including collective bargaining agreement (CBA) interpretation, grievances, and negotiations.
• Partner with union leadership to support compliance and positive labor-management relationships.
• Oversee benefits programs including health plans, HSAs, leaves of absence, and multiple 401(k) plans.
• Ensure ERISA, DOL, IRS, and plan compliance.
• Partner with payroll to ensure accurate wage payments, deductions, garnishments, and wage/hour compliance.
• Design, implement, and oversee company-wide training programs, including supervisor and leadership training, harassment prevention and workplace conduct training, compliance and policy training, and performance management and documentation training.
• Ensure required trainings are completed, tracked, and documented.
• Coach leaders and managers on employee relations best practices and effective people management.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, OSHA, and EEO requirements.
• Partner with employment counsel on investigations, corrective actions, and litigation risk.
• Lead, mentor, and develop managers across multiple locations.
• Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Eight to ten or more years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience.
• Experience supporting 1,000 or more employees.
• Experience in union and labor relations.
• Extensive experience with benefits administration, 401(k) plans, and compliance.
• Payroll experience a strong plus.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs.
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
