VENTEON Finance is hiring a PAYROLL SPECIALIST to provide support for a multi-location corporation in the Troy, MI area.
POSITION TYPE : Full time. Direct Hire. In the office for training, Hybrid -2 days in office, 3 remote afterwards.
HOURLY PAY : $26.50 per hour ($55,000 annual) to $29.80 per hour ($62,000 annually) plus OT at time and one half. Benefits package and vacation are also provided.
Average work week 45-48 hours weekly.
Requirements for the Payroll Specialist position :
- Bachelor or Associate’s Degree needed.
- Minimum three or more years of high volume, multi state payroll processing experience.
- Accounting experience that includes creating, posting, and reconciling payroll month end general ledger entries and tying out year-end W2’s.
- Excellent verbal, written and people skills. A person who enjoys collaborating with people and numbers.
- Knowledge in multiple types of pay cycles and experience tracking and calculating PTO balances.
- Able to commit to payroll timelines and handle unexpected challenges when they arise.
- Experience with payroll processing systems. UKG Pro software is desired (not required, will teach). Demonstrate technical proficiency with Microsoft applications.
Duties of the Payroll Specialist :
- Perform activities as an active part of a payroll team.
- Process payroll activities for USA and one Canadian office for both exempt and hourly staff with a high degree of accuracy (900-1,000 employees). Work in a position
with lots of moving parts and priorities.
- Update and maintain employee personnel changes in the system.
- Process timesheets and salaries along with all designated special pay runs and off cycle payrolls.
- Track, maintain, analyze, and review paid time off accruals for hourly employees.
- Manage third-party sick pay process and reconcile to vendor statements.
- Ensure proper payroll deductions are applied. Ensure proper general ledger codes are applied for earnings and deductions.
- Prepare and distribute payroll data and reports.
- Prepare associated general ledger journal entries for bi-weekly, monthly, and off-cycle payrolls.
- Assist in monthly payroll account reconciliations.
- Provide support for employee’s questions and problem solving when payroll discrepancies occur.
- Participate in additional projects and tasks as requested by the Payroll Supervisor, and Accounting Leadership team.
