About the Role:

· Position: Special Education Teacher at Sheldon Academy

· Location: Rutland, VT 05701 (Relocation required)

· Pay: $23.25 per hour

· Hours: Work 8-hour day shifts (Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm) for a 10-month position, following the school calendar for seasonal breaks and federal holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide direct instruction, in-class support for learning and social skills, and therapeutic support.

· Assess student abilities and monitor general education and IEP goal achievement, with minimal tri-annual evaluation responsibilities.

· Implement, edit, and consult on IEP plans; share case management responsibilities and prepare IEP progress reports.

· Collaborate with general educators to prepare report cards and attend student meetings as scheduled.

· Plan and implement curriculum based on Vermont State Standards, maintain organized materials and student records, and provide consultation on therapeutic and behavior support methods.

Qualifications:

· B.S. or B.A. in Education or Special Education (Master's preferred) with Vermont Special Education Licensure K-12 or eligibility.

· 3 years of teaching experience with behaviorally/emotionally disturbed children.

· Valid Vermont driver’s license and strong communication, organizational, and basic computer skills.

· Proficient in special education law, IEPs, and assessments.

· Deep understanding of learning disabilities, emotional-behavioral issues, and skilled in relationship management, emergency response, adaptability, and team collaboration.
