General Description
As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced network engineers, gaining hands-on experience in networking technologies and helping to ensure the reliability and performance of our network systems.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Network Configuration and Maintenance: Assist in configuring and maintaining network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Ensure network reliability and security
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve network issues, such as connectivity problems, latency, and security vulnerabilities. Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and provide solutions
- Network Monitoring: Use network monitoring tools to proactively identify network problems and performance bottlenecks. Take appropriate actions to maintain network uptime
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, equipment configurations, and network policies
- Security: Assist in implementing network security measures to protect against threats, including intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) and firewalls
- Support: Provide technical support to end-users and other IT teams when network-related issues arise. Communicate effectively and provide timely solutions
- Upgrades and Expansion: Participate in network upgrades and expansion projects, including hardware and software updates, capacity planning, and scalability
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that network requirements are met for various projects and applications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and subnetting
- Familiarity with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto is a plus
- Basic understanding of network security principles
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Certifications like CompTIA Network or Cisco CCNA are a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates
