Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Software Engineer I to join our engineering team. This role be responsible for learning and contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that support our business needs. This entry-level position offers a great opportunity to build a strong foundation in software development and work alongside experienced engineers to build real-world public safety solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Software Development: Assist in the design, development, and testing of software applications, ensuring they meet functional and technical specifications.
• Learning & Growth: Develop your skills by learning from more experienced engineers, attending training sessions, and keeping up to date with best practices.
• Code Implementation: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code under guidance, contributing to both front-end and back-end development tasks.
• Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product owners, designers, and engineers to understand requirements and participate in the development of software solutions.
• Testing & Debugging: Participate in unit and integration testing, help troubleshoot issues and resolve bugs.
• Documentation: Document code, designs, and other relevant technical information to ensure clarity and maintainability of the software.
• Development Processes: Contribute to the team's development process by participating in sprint planning, standups, and code reviews.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience and training.
• Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience in software development or relevant internships/projects.
• Programming Skills: Familiarity with at least one object-oriented programming language, such as C# or Java.
• Databases: Basic knowledge of relational databases (SQL).
• Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to approach problems methodically and seek solutions with guidance.
• Teamwork: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
• Clearance: Ability to pass a criminal background check for CJIS security requirements.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Web Frameworks: Exposure to web development frameworks (e.g., Vue, React, Angular).
• Familiarity with Desktop Frameworks: Exposure to desktop development frameworks (e.g., WPF, WinUI, WinForms).
• Cloud Platforms: Basic knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
• Testing Frameworks: Understanding of testing concepts and unit test frameworks.
• Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with agile development practices, including Scrum or Kanban.
