Pay: $20–$40/hr (Based on Experience)

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Railcar Painter to apply protective coatings and finishes to railway equipment, including locomotives, passenger cars, and freight cars. This position plays a key role in ensuring both the aesthetic quality and long-term durability of rail assets by protecting them from corrosion, wear, and environmental damage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Surface Preparation: Clean and prep metal surfaces by removing old coatings, rust, and contaminants using sanding, sandblasting, scraping, and washing techniques.
• Paint Application: Apply primers, paints, varnishes, sealers, and other finishes using spray guns, rollers, and brushes to achieve smooth, even coverage.
• Mixing & Matching: Mix paints and coatings to match required specifications and desired finishes.
• Tool Maintenance: Operate and maintain painting equipment such as airless sprayers, brushes, and rollers, ensuring proper function and cleanliness.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished work to ensure quality standards are met, and make touch-ups or corrections as needed.
• Team Collaboration: Work alongside other painters and inspectors to complete projects on schedule and to client expectations.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in industrial or automotive painting, ideally with metal surfaces.
• Skilled in surface prep, paint mixing, and a variety of application techniques.
• Familiarity with different coatings and finishes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in PPE within a paint booth environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Paint training certification is a plus.
