Summary/Objective:
The Accounting Manager will manage the monthly financial review and closing process as it relates to the property management portfolio. The position will report to the Assistant Controller and will assist in the development of internal control policies, procedures, and process management.
Essential Functions:
- Review and approve monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including supporting schedules for property entities.
- Supervise and oversee a portion of the accounting staff.
- Responsible for full-cycle financial reporting on a portfolio of assets.
- Work with the team to enforce deadlines for the timely delivery of reports.
- Review and approve monthly owner distributions and manage cash availability for capital projects and associated needs.
- Recommend new accounting procedures as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration with emphasis in accounting.
- Ideal candidate has a minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with MRI and YARDI accounting software preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills.
