Billing Specialist, Ophthalmology

Responsibilities:
· Processing patient data

· Posting charges for physicians- including surgeries

· Collect any missing data from coordinators to send out a correct claim (Verify Modifiers, not over coding, Auths)

· Refer to EMR system for services validation

· Report processing to validate charges billed correctly according to guidelines

· Verify all claims match the number of appointments seen on the DOS billed

· Error bucket validation and correction

· Properly diagnosing phone calls/ delivering call to appropriate department

· Addressing billing issues- Inform to supervisor any external error as necessary

· Answer any questions front desk staff/ patients may have regarding their bill (All office locations)

· Responsible for informing supervisor of any billing error/ nonpayment/denials trends and notify Admin

· Work on delegated reports provided by Admin

· Email/Voicemail responding

· Work on denials/ errors/ incidents/ tasks/ appeals

· Billing processing include but are not limited to, making phone calls, following up on claim status,

reprocessing of claims

· Working on claim errors found in error bucket, assessing accordingly and resubmitting

· Properly diagnosing phone calls/ delivering call to appropriate department

· Preparing and submitting billing data and medical claims to insurance companies

· Following policies and procedures

Skills/Qualifications:
· High School Diploma

· Experience using medical billing software.

· A bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, accounting or related field is preferred

· Experience working with multi-state Medicaid policies.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Self-directed with ability to work with minimal supervision

· Customer service experience.

· Proven work experience as a Medical Biller or similar role

· Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively

· Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities

Job Type: Full-time
