Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Position Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist (CDIS) is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for improving the quality, accuracy, and completeness of clinical documentation across the healthcare continuum. This role uses a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach involving physicians, nurses, HIM coders, revenue teams, and other key clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation of patient care and services rendered.
The CDIS will play a critical advisory role, acting as a liaison between providers and documentation teams to optimize coding, support appropriate reimbursement, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Serve as a nursing advisor for clinical documentation standards and improvement strategies.
· Collaborate extensively with physicians, HIM coding staff, Revenue Utilization Review (RUR) team, and multidisciplinary clinical staff.
· Conduct reviews of medical records to identify discrepancies and opportunities for clarifying documentation.
· Provide education and feedback to providers and clinical staff to improve documentation practices.
· Ensure documentation supports accurate coding, third-party billing, and quality reporting metrics.
· Assist with efforts to maximize revenue collection while maintaining the integrity of clinical records.
· Support clinical outcomes reporting through accurate documentation reviews and data integrity.
· Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and clinical documentation best practices.
Required Qualifications:
· Active, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth with reciprocity in the State of Tennessee.
· Demonstrated experience in clinical documentation improvement (CDI) and/or case management.
· Must be familiar with VA documentation practices and federal healthcare coding guidelines.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with physicians and educate clinical teams.
One of the following Certifications is Required:
· ACDIS (Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists)
· AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association)
· AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders)
CDIS credential strongly preferred.
Salary : $45 - $48
