Job Description for Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital Veterinary Assistant / Technician

Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital, founded by Vets Pets in June 2015, brought specialty services to Eastern NC. Serving a vast region east of Raleigh to the coast, Points East VSH has matured into a 24/7/365 hospital with emergency, surgery, critical care, and diagnostic ultrasound services.

What started with the understanding that the region was ready for advanced and local, specialty medicine, a surgery service splitting its time between two locations shared with after-hours emergency clinics, has grown to include multiple surgeons, a boarded criticalist, nine emergency veterinarians, and an enthusiastic support team working 24/7/365.

With three sister emergency practices, each within an hour of the hospital, Points East VSH enjoys the collaboration and camaraderie that comes with being a member of the Vets Pets family. Sharing ideas, inventory, staff, and protocols, the network of hospitals problem-solve together.

Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital is located in the growing town of Wilson, NC, about 30 minutes outside of Raleigh. Wilson is a great place to call home with a charming downtown, convenient location, centuries of history, great hiking and biking, family-friendly amenities, and an excellent park system. The land is cleared a few miles away from the current location right with plans moving forward for a 17,000 sq ft modern building.

Responsibilities

• Taking histories and providing initial client education
• Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
• Care of hospitalized patients
• Daily callbacks to clients
• Restraining patients
• Assisting in taking of radiographs
• Giving IV & IM injections
• Dispensing controlled drugs
• Placing IV catheters and maintaining feeding tubes and urinary catheters
• Performing cytology’s
• Monitor Surgical procedures
• Lab Diagnostics
• Following opening/closing procedures for the hospital
• Performing routine cleaning

Requirements and Qualifications

· At least 1 year related experience

· Exceptional Customer Service and Communication Skills

· Positive attitude

· Must be able to multitask and thrive in a team environment

· Cornerstone experience a plus
