System Engineer
Vexcel is looking for an IT Production Systems Engineer. Vexcel is a leading provider of high-resolution aerial imagery and geospatial data, aerial camera systems, 3D data, and imagery solutions. It’s aerial imagery and data are used by a variety of industries worldwide, including local and federal governments, geospatial, insurance, natural resources, and telecommunications.
This is a new and exciting position as an IT Production Systems Engineer for the maintenance, operation and expansion of our data processing and data movement data centers. These are complex data centers with a high volume of data storage (20 PB of storage) and data processing.
The ideal candidate for the IT Production Systems Engineer position should have extensive knowledge of systems maintenance, an entrepreneurial attitude, with the ability to quickly learn new and unfamiliar technologies.
As part of this growing team, this position of IT Production Systems Engineer will be responsible for regular on-call shifts for 24x7 systems support and will be required to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support for incidents and day-to-day problems
- Participate in the exciting implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC); Ansible experience required
- Knowledge of switches and firewalls; HP, Cisco, FortiNet, Aruba
- Provide support for the resolution of critical production problems and proactive customer service.
- Experience in monitoring systems (TICK / ELK / Zabbix / Nagios)
- Development of dashboards with Grafana / Kibana
- Very experienced with Linux and Windows scripting skills (PowerShell, Shell, Python, etc.).
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and backup copies.
- Experience in Active Directory management, OU / Security Groups and GPO management
- Contribute and maintain the security posture of the system in accordance with VEXCEL security policies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of technical education or training or 3 years of IT experience.
- Valuable professional certifications, as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- Expertise in configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, others)
- Expertise in network monitoring and management (VLAN, BGP, OSPF, LACP)
- Familiar with physical infrastructure (server collocation, cable tracing)
- Experience in physical server monitoring (HPE, IBM, Cisco, Dell, Supermicro)
- Knowledge of ITIL principles
- Experience in working with ITSM tools like Remedy, Jira, ServiceNow
Preferred location as close as possible to Quincy, WA
