Clearance required: Current Active Secret Security Clearance, Top Secret eligible

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in any field with 2 years practical experience OR 8 years of practical experience without a degree.

Total Years of Experience: 8 (must have prior experience with DoD, preferably Army)

Position Description: As a Virtualization Systems Engineer, you will provide engineering support to the design, employment of a virtualized infrastructure. You will analyze and troubleshoot Nutanix deployment and virtualization issues. You will identify important potential technologies and approaches to address current and future needs within the enterprise, evaluate their applicability and fit, and make recommendations to the Government based on the evaluation. You will also assist the Government in defining standards for virtualization technologies and best practices for their use.  

Travel: As required by customer. Stateside conferences, Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG), Fort Meade and Fort Huachuca are possible travel locations. Amount of travel is likely to be minimal.

Position Tasks:

  • Provide Army Enterprise virtualization capability by installing, configuring and managing a highly available and scaleable virtual infrastructure.
  • Provide planning, installation, configuration and upgrade support for Nutanix. Plan and configure networking and storage solutions.
  • Develop plans for deploying and administering virtual machines and applications. Establish and maintain service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor Acropolis implementations and manage server alarms.
  • Prepare Enterprise Technical Procedures (ETPs) for configuring and managing virtual networks, configuring and managing virtual storage, and virtual machine management.
  • Prepare ETPs and provide input on data protection, access, authentication control, resource management, monitoring, high availability, fault tolerance and scalable virtualized infrastructure.
  • Participate in Enterprise testing for integration of proposed new technologies to be included in the Enterprise design and develop test-related documentation.
  • Research and analyze DoD and DA policies to mitigate integration problems that may impact the Enterprise projects. 
  • Develop system baseline documentation for new systems, control system changes for the project configuration management database and maintain system baseline documentation throughout system life cycle.
  • Draft, coordinate, and finalize documentation to ensure the integration of virtualization within the Enterprise.
  • Provide Army Enterprise procedures, such as an implementation guide, to ensure technical solutions and schedules are identified within suspense timelines and adhere to Government operational/technical requirements and standards.

Requirements:

  • 4 years of experience with VMWare vSphere ESX/ESXi, vCenter, vRealize, and SRM technologies.
  • 4 years of experience with either Windows Operating Systems or Linux Operating Systems.
  • 2 years of experience with Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure
  • 2 years of experience with Nutanix Acropolis and Prism
  • 2 years of development experience
  • Experience scripting with PowerCLI and/or PowerShell

 Certification Requirements:

  • IAT II certified as specified in DOD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002 (Security CE, GSEC, SCNP SSCP or GSLC IA Certifications).
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
  • Ability to obtain the Nutanix Certified Advanced Professional within 12 months of start date.
