ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Virginia Beach Office is seeking a Transportation Designer to join our Transportation Design team. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation engineers and planners on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal lands, and aviation.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual and final design of roadway, highway, and multi-modal engineering solutions for a variety of transportation-related projects
- Preparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specifications
- Development of 3D modeling for conceptual roadway alignments
- Preparation of temporary traffic control plans
- Typical section development and payment design
- Preparation of right-of-way and easement plans

Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- 0-1 year of engineering experience, whether through coursework or professional experience (may include co-op/internship experience)
- Co-op/internship experience preferred
- Experience with MicroStation or OpenRoadsDesigner is a plus
- EIT certification is a plus
