VCA Windsor Animal Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Windsor Animal Hospital was first opened in the late 1980’s as a small private practice. In 2007, we moved into a brand-new, custom-built location. Our hospital has continued to grow in the years since. In 2020, we joined the VCA family of hospitals, added brand new equipment (ultrasound, digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray to name a few), as well as converting to a brand-new practice management software with electronic medical records. Job Summary Providing high quality patient care in a fast-paced team centered environment. Assisting technicians and doctors with patient examinations as well as assisting in more advanced surgical and dental procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Wrangling: Must be able to provide compassionate and competent restraint for our canine and feline friends. Fear Free knowledge and technique is greatly appreciated. Knowledge in venipuncture, IV catheterization, sedation/anesthetic monitoring, laboratory sample handling/preparation, and hands-free radiography Medical mathematics. Must be able to calculate basic medical math with the ability to learn more advanced calculations. Pharmacy knowledge that enables the ability to properly fill and administer medications by multiple routes. Adept computer skills for electronic medical record keeping. Must have excellent written communication skills including punctuation, spelling, and grammar. High hygiene standard. Hospital cleanliness is a team effort. Honest and dependable personality traits Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ability to multitask while upholding high quality patient care and self-starting work ethic Availability for flexible scheduling and working weekends Client Service Excellent client care is a priority here.
