Fantastic opportunity for a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our 5-doctor practice at VCA Airport Irvine Animal Hospital. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Catheter placement Administration of medications & vaccines. Perform diagnostic radiographs (hands free as allowed) Patient assessment and record keeping (Follow digital treatment plans prescribed by DVM). Surgical preparation, Administer and monitor general anesthesia, if required Laboratory work: Obtain quality lab samples via venipuncture, cystocentesis, fecal collection, etc. Perform in-hospital laboratory diagnostics including fecals, urinalysis, cytologies, etc. Process lab samples utilizing in-hospital laboratory equipment Pharmacy: Fill prescriptions Patient recovery Compassionate care for hospitalized patients Client Relations Housekeeping/Maintenance QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in an Animal Hospital Flexibility in hours including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays Animal Handling Dentistry (Preferred by not required) Must be friendly, outgoing, “People oriented” Customer service skills including Phone skills Working knowledge of computers Excellent communications skills Ability to operate with a sense of urgency and high pace Willingness to jump in as needed Able to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Comfortable asking for help and clarification when needed Possess a high attention to detail Willing to learn new techniques and treatments Benefits: Below are some of the many benefits of joining the VCA team for full-time associates (part-time benefits may vary)! This is a part-time position. Dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities.
