Hourly Range: $17.36 - $23.44
Education Variable: $2,080 - $4,160 ($2.00 - $3.00/hr)
Bilingual Variable: $4,000 ($1.92/hr)

Position Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Supervisor, the Mental Health Specialist has responsibility for providing support services to individuals and families as identified in the designated program and/or individualized plan. 

Program: 

Wraparound is a strengths-based planning process that occurs in a team setting to engage with children, youth, and their families. Wraparound shifts focus away from a traditional service-driven, problem-based approach to care and instead follows a strengths-based, needs-driven approach. The intent is to build on individual and family strengths to help families achieve positive goals and improve well-being. Wraparound is also a team-driven process. From the start, a child and family team is formed and works directly with the family as they identify their own needs and strengths. The team develops a service plan that describes specific strategies for meeting the needs identified by the family. The service plan is individualized, with strategies that reflect the child and family’s culture and preferences. California Wraparound is intended to allow children to live and grow up in a safe, stable, permanent family environment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides individual and family support services in accordance with the individualized plans.
  2. Able to effectively engage, develop relationships with appropriate boundaries with assigned clients.
  3. Effectively manages a flexible community based schedule.
  4. Completes all required documentation according to Agency and program standards within required time constraints.
  5. Is an active member of assigned treatment teams.
  6. Meets Agency service percentage standard reflecting expected time spent with clients, if applicable.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  1. Must possess a bachelors degree from an accredited university in a behavioral science (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work etc).
  2. 1-2 years case management and/or behavioral intervention services preferred. 
  3. Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

Position/Program Requirements:

  1. Must possess a valid California driver's license, personal automobile insurance and clean driving record.
  2. Must be physically and mentally fit. Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) and drug screening test.
  3. Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
  4. Must be flexible to work a varying schedule according to operational needs.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to work in an office or outdoor environment including standing, walking, and running, sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  2. Must be physically able to perform Pro-Act Restraint Techniques, CPR and First Aid as trained.
  3. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle for traveling up to 100 miles driving distance.
