What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRODUCTION SYRUP TECH position at VIKING COCA COLA BOTTLING CO?
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs the proper mixing of water, sweetener and concentrate to create finished syrups for production, while maintaining the integrity and quality of the products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sets up, verifies and completes daily batching sheets prior to mixing.
2. Follows all standard operating procedures for mixing, while performing each procedure in an accurate, consistent and timely manner.
3. Prepares daily paperwork and completes daily checklists.
4. Performs startup and end of run procedures on processing machines(if applicable).
5. Performs all required tank sanitations according to VCC flavor matrix.
6. Forecasts sweetener use and tank availability for weekly production schedules, according to batch and tank size.
7. Stages, dates and unloads concentrate shipments at regular intervals, using FIFO rotation methodology.
8. Uses the proper protective equipment at all times.
9. Has willingness and ability to accept a leadership role in the production area, to include cross training on different pieces of machinery.
10. Works interdepartmentally to achieve goals and maintain the quality of product.
11. Utilizes downtime to clean syrup room and the overall facility.
12. Receives and unloads sweetener tanker trucks.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School education or equivalent required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be able to read, write and have basic math skills.
- Must possess analytical and communication skills.
- Requires strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, while handling interruptions.
- Must have ability to work unsupervised, as part of a team.
- Must be able to respond to problems quickly and efficiently.
- Requires forklift certification (company provided).
WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Exposed to moving machinery, such as forklifts and production equipment.
- Exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment, requires wearing hearing protection.
- May be exposed to temperature extremes.
- Requires wearing company uniform, with shirt tucked, and company provided hairnet/beard net and rubber boots.
- Requires flexibility with schedule, including break times and working extended hours, when needed.
- Summer schedule will include 5-6 days per week; winter schedule will include 4-5 days per week.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting:
Ground to Waist Lift (Occasionally) up to 75# (cases)
Carrying:
Front Carry (Rarely) 25 foot carry up to 55#
Pushing/Pulling:
Dynamic pushing/pulling (chemical barrels) on cart for up to 50 feet
Dynamic Pushing and Pulling (Occasionally) scrubbing
Ambulatory Activity:
Standing/Walking (Continuously) standing on variable surfaces throughout entire shift
Climbing (Occasionally) in and around equipment
Stairs (Occasionally) step up/down from 15’ platform/step heights
Squatting/Stooping/Kneeling: (Occasionally) to as low as ground level while cleaning
Repetitive use of hand/grasping: (Occasionally) light to forceful manipulating/grasping of product
Reaching: (Frequently on Depal) up to 32 inches in front of body at floor to 60” heights while reaching for product.
