JOB TITLE: SAFETY MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE: TO MAINTAIN A SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards; developing and enforcing systems policies and procedures; by conducting studies and investigations; devising safe procedures and researching and advising on various types of safety equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

1. Identifies and Anticipates Health and Safety Concerns and Hazards by surveying environmental, operational and occupational conditions; investigating violations; recommending preventive programs; conducting emergency evacuation drills, updating policy as changes occur at each facility; working with security on all aspects of controlling workplace violence; assuring compliance local, state and federal safety regulations.

2. Guides and Promotes Safe Work Performance by being a role model for safety; developing safety systems, policies and procedures; developing safety campaigns, communications and recognition; training managers and employees.

3. Safety Programs for all Viking Range Entities by working with all entities to perform all needed training with inside or outside trainers.

4. Assure Responsible Care for all Injured Employees by training all first responders in all aspects of First Aid and CPR and continuing refresher classes; updating and monitoring first aid logs and injury report forms; to monitor drug testing for accidents involving property damage.

5. Maintains Safety Training Programs by developing training programs and re-training for all employees including any other outlying entity, in areas of new hire safety orientation, forklift training, Haz Com, Respiratory Protection Program, PPE,Hearing Conservation, Lockout/Tagout and other safety training as needed.

6. Enforcing Safety Policies by conducting inspections; reporting statistics, updating safety policies as needed; counseling employees, supervisors and managers on the importance of working safely while following the proper procedures.

7. Inspections and Audits by scheduling regular inspections and audits for each facility, working with supervisors, managers and engineers to correct problems noted during the inspection process and to see the corrections are completed by the needed date.

8. Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge

by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Degree in Management, Health or Safety2. 5 years previous Health and Safety experience required3. Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.4. Ability to plan and prioritize work.5. Proficient with all MS Office and applicable software packages.6. Responsible, dependable, detail oriented and professional.7. First aid and CPR required, instructor or trainer a plus.
